The 2001 Farm Environmental Survey collected data nationally on manure on Canadian , dairy and hog farms. Most manure was applied to the land during fall (43.6%) and spring (29.9%) months. However, over half (53.3%) of cattle manure was left on the surface or incorporated into the soil after more than a week.
